August 29th, 2023 at 9:25It might not often be thought of as the most fun game in the universe of wagering, but keno has massive amounts of dedicated fans. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a consistently exciting lottery-esque game that’s a breeze to master, readily available in many assorted styles, and one that may return millions for people who learn its heaps of subtle nuances. But let’s start with the basic rules for now.
When describing keno to amateurs, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to the lottery. This is at least in some measure correct, in that both games are generally numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far will be to discount the innumerable unique traits that make keno so compelling. Unlike bingo, keno players have the freedom to pick the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a total of 80 numbers, but the player is furnished with an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to select as numerous (or as few) numbers as he desires. And it doesn’t take a genius to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your selected numbers with a good old#2 pencil like you had when you were in school.
Now that you’ve selected your numbers, carry the game card back to the nice person at the keno booth. The clerk will record your numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and wants help out, without a winning receipt with you, you will collect exactly $.00 for your actions.
Now there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno slip. Let us move to something a bit more complicated, ok?
After you’ve marked your numbers, get into a nice keno booth and see the action happen on the monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are shown in lights. If you selected winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Be sure not to dally, or sit there praising yourself for too great a length of time. You need to get up to the keno stand to collect your winnings, and a new drawing will almost certainly begin within 5 minutes.
Strategy #2: always get back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you don’t trust yourself to make that five-minute margin each and every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the max number of games (the same as the amount of tickets) is completed, you will then be able to get off your lazy butt and go collect your winnings.
Another opportunity is referred to as a "stray and play" keno card, which normally allows you make number choices for 30 games or more. Hell, you can take all the time in the world and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to collect your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after you purchase it!
And now you know a handful of indispensable techniques for winning keno. If you are an accomplished player, they may seem quite obvious. But it will not hurt to study up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner keno player, every bit of information will help make your keno wagering more agreeable.
